Workshop Description
Last summer a fourth day was added to Leslie Lee’s Sculpture Workshop to allow time to try out various ways of finishing clay surfaces without glazing.  The result was near pandemonium, as everyone was anxious to try everything possible and there was simply not enough time. “More of this!” the participants cried and so this summer Leslie’s workshop will be three full days of exploring the critical post-firing construction and finishing of sculptural ceramics.

Paint possibilities include acrylics, oils, milk paint, enamel, etc. used with wax, foils, photo transfers, decals, nail polish - whatever works for the desired effect.  All the photos on this page are examples of "room temperature glazing".

Leslie will also introduce the basics of post-fired construction which allow a sculpture to be made in pieces and glued together permanently, disassembled for shipping, or mounted on a different material.

All experience levels will enjoy this class, but participants must bring fired clay “homework” that will be used for the construction lessons. Do not hesitate to call Leslie if you have questions about this. (541-899-7045)

"...the whole thing was was wonderful...the hands-on part with Leslie was the most unforgettable experience and has given me great hope for the future."
"Wonderful tips which will be lifelong helps..ability to access the studio after hours..I feel like I learned more techniques in these three days than in 2 years."
A $12 lab fee is necessary due to the wide range of materials needed for experimentation. This fee is waived for participants of Leslie’s 2007 workshop.
