For oil painters who don't have watercolors or acrylics in your paintbox, we can arrange to have paints to share for a modest lab fee.

PENCILS:
HB pencil
Large, soft lead sketching pencil, such as a Cretacolor #43001 or 43002, or General’s 6B Sketching Pencil  or Progresso 8911/6B
FOR Watercolor:
John Pike Palette or a similar palette with a large undivided mixing surface
Large synthetic sponge (4” x 7”)
Sketch book (8 1/2 “x 11” or larger)
Photo references ( with geometric planes, i.e. buildings, streetscenes, boats, etc.)
Quart size water container
Painting board 23”x31” for full sheets
(I just loosely clip my watercolor paper on a watercolor backing board, such as Gatorboard)
four #4 bulldog clips or similar clips
Masking tape
Spray bottle
Cotton hand Towel
( I use cloth diapers)
Kneaded eraser
Hairdryer, optional

PALETTE: (Winsor Newton Finest, Grumbacher Finest, Holbein, Daniel Smith or another professional brand)  bring tube paints - do not squeeze in palette before workshop
Cadmium Yellow Pale or Light
Olive Green or Sap Green
Winsor Blue (Winsor Newton) or Thalo Blue (Grumbacher Finest)
Winsor Green (Winsor Newton) or Thalo Green (Grumbacher Finest)
Cadmium Yellow Deep
Cadmium Red Light
Quinacridone Red
Ultramarine Blue
Cobalt Blue
Chinese White

PAPER:
(3 or 4) 22x30” sheets of 140lb. 100% rag cold pressed or rough watercolor paper (less for 3-day workshops)
All professional brands are fine. My favorite is Arches Rough

BRUSHES:
Da Vinci Brush Set (recommended, available at Art Media 1-800-990-3364 Ext.4):
Series 35 Maestro -Kolinski Red Sable-Long Tapered Round - size 12
Series 418 Russian Blue Squirrel - Quill mop - size 5
Series 5830 Cosmotop Mix - Bright - size 24
    or: 1” flat and a #12 round, and #6 Rigger brush(optional)

AND/OR

For Acylics
Acrylic palette: either wood or paper
Colors: same hues as watercolor plus Titanium white
Gloss or Matte medium
BRUSHES: 1”flat acrylic brush #12, ¾” filbert, ½”filbert
16x20 or larger stretched gessoed canvas or gessoed masonite.
Unstretched canvas is fine with a three inch border to allow for stretching later.
Painting board if you choose to use unstretched canvas. The board should be ½” larger than the canvas for proper securing with clips.
Rag for wiping brush
Bulldog clips and water container from above can be used for acrylics

Optional: easel and/or painting stool. We may paint on location, weather permitting. You may wish to outfit accordingly. You may bring photos of paintings for personal critique.
Tables are set up for painting in the classroom.
